Five o’clock shadow / lower each day as summer / solstice approaches.

I observed a shadow at 5pm, cast onto tiger lilies by the garage, and realized it had been sinking lower daily as June 21st draws near. Of course, this means I will observe the opposite (rising at 5pm) after midsummer’s eve, aka the summer solstice, has passed…
