Friday the thirteenth / comes on Thursday this month, so / today it is here. Haikumages

In this month / Friday the thirteenth comes / on Thursday.

Twoku:
Friday the thirteenth / comes on Thursday this month, so / it is here today.

OK, before you think i’ve gone off my rocker, dived into dementia, or otherwise gone around the bend with this silly haiku, you should know that it’s in honor of and derived from a favorite, satirical cartoon — an old comic strip called “Pogo” — written and drawn by Walt Kelly (deceased). If you don’t know about Pogo Possum, his friends and adventures in Okefenokee Swamp, you should search for it online, and get ready to laugh!  Anyway, this haiku and twoku are  inspired (stolen?) from an ongoing thread in the comic strip, where one character often remarks on which day of the week Friday the Thirteenth comes on this month.

Enjoy THURSDAY the Thirteenth in the meantime…  🙂

“Haikumages” are short poems (mostly haiku and senryu-style) combined with images (mostly original photographs and graphics) by Russ Murray.
